Dining Details Welcomes a New Sous Chef

Born on December 12th, at 7:22 pm, Baby John Eric was born to Dining Details owners, Robbie and Julie Frans. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and measuring 20 inches, John was fair size for coming two weeks earlier than expected.

Julie went in to labor at 11 pm on the night of the 11th, only minutes after getting home from working a 110 guest Christmas party in Rancho Santa Fe. Having worked a very full day and night on their feet, Robbie and Julie were exhausted going into a 20+ hour labor, albeit thankful the water didn’t break in ythe middle of the party! Despite their exhaustion, the couple managed to deliver completely “au natural”- staying in line with their “organic” and natural lifestyle. (Julie loves talking about her “hypno-birthing” experience, and is keen to share all she learned with interested moms-to-be.)

Little Chef Frans is thriving, now three weeks old, having gained two whole pounds since birth, and developing more and more of a personality each day. Mom and Dad are adjusting to the new pace of life and the lack of sleep, and enjoying the priceless facial expressions and precious moments with the little one.

Suzanne Hansen, photographer extraordinaire, took some amazing shots of the little guy. Check out adorable photos of Johnny at day 7 on her blog; click on www.shewanders.com/blog.

Dining Details and Meritage Wine Market Host the first bimonthly “Best of San Diego” Pairing- Burgers and Bourdeaux

Dining Details and Meritage Wine Market in Encinitas were both voted as “the best of” in San Diego, as caterer and wine market, respectively. And… the two make a perfect pairing! We have teamed up with Meritage to bring you Thirsty Thursdays, a time for us to wine and dine you, and give you the opportunity to taste our wares, so you can see why we each won “the best of.”

This month’s theme was “Burgers and Bourdeaux,” and was held on January 15th. In honor of the Football frenzy of January, we featured a line up of gourmet burgers, truffled fries, and coleslaw, paired with the wines of France. The turn out was great for the “season opener”- the food flew off the platters and the guests enjoyed heavy pours of vino. Friends were made, glasses were toasted, and burgers were enjoyed!

The menu:

Sirloin Burgers with Pt. Reyes Blue, Arugula, and Sauteed Shitakes

Tri-Tip Burgers with Horseradish Cream

Lamb Burgers with Cranberry Port Demi and Goat Cheese

Caprese Burgers with Chino Farms Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Basil Pesto, Truffle Drizzleon Grilled Ciabatta Buns

Truffled Fries with Parmesan

Chino Farms Cabbage Salad with Apples in Poppyseed Vinaigrette

The next Thirsty Thursday will be held in mid-March, date TBD… stay tuned! The theme will be “Spring Fling”- and we will be pairing Spring inspired appetizers and Tapas with crisp, light wines that remind us of Spring. Please… be our guest! The $50 entrance fee covers your food and wine for the evening… which is a phenomenal steal for the amount and quality you receive. The experience, though, is priceless!
